How to Assemble

Need some assistance assembling your keychain, pouch kits, or personal items? Check out our helpful instructions and tips below!

Before You Start

Make sure to have the following supplies:

  • Clothing Iron or other high heat devices (see heating instructions for alternatives)
  • Pillowcase, Towel, or Thin Sheet
  • Patches and Items

Place these items on a flat surface. For items that may have uneven surfaces (ex. bags), fill space with towels or small cloths. This will make it easier to iron the patches.

Heating Instructions

All FPS patches are applied with heat. You can use the following to attach your patches:

  • Clothing Iron
  • Hair Straightener (Recommended for items with flat surfaces only - ex. Keychain strap, Photoholder, etc.)
  • Heat Press

Heat up your device. For devices with adjustable temperatures, the recommended setting is 270 °F. Please research online what heat setting this may be for your device.

Special Application Instructions:

Hair Straightener: Place item and patch inside. Apply each patch individually until secured.

Assembly

Important Notes for Flower Patch Studio Kits:

  • Keychain Strap: Avoid placing patches too close to the clasp. Feel free to place patches on both sides of the strap!
  • Pouch: Fill your pouch with a small cloth to provide a flat surface. Keep patches towards the center of the pouch.
  • Photoholder: Remove the plastic cover from inside the holder before ironing on your patches.
  • Mini Patches: Please make sure to iron on letters with the embroidered side facing up, otherwise it will stick to the heated surface. Some mini patches (hearts, stars, etc.) may use a sticky adhesive. Please remove the paper backing before applying onto your kit, if any.

Steps for General Patch Application

  1. Arrange your patches on your item, with the adhesive side face down.
  2. After your iron is heated to the correct setting, carefully put a thin cloth over the patches.
  3. Place iron and apply pressure to the patches for 60 seconds or until secured. Avoid any metal or plastic. Do not keep the iron in one place for more than 30 seconds to ensure the item does not suffer heat damage. Use circular motions after the first 30 seconds.
  4. After removing your iron, let the item completely cool before use. Apply additional heat on patches as needed (usually on the edges).

Additional Tips

Item Recommendations: It is recommended to apply patches on items that the adhesive can grip (ex. Canvas, Cotton, etc.) Patches may not adhere to smooth surfaces, such as denim or silk. Some materials, such as corduroy, may have different heat settings. Please be sure to see what heat setting your item will need so it is not damaged when applying patches.

Washing Care

To prevent your patches from falling off of your items, wash your item on cold and air dry for the best results.

Following these settings will ensure that the heat adhesive does not melt.

Photoholder Patch Instructions

  1. Print your desired photo (recommended size: 1.7 x 2.2 cm). Use glossy photo paper or “laminate” with glossy tape!
  2. Line up your photo. Lay the patch over your photo (example). Leave enough space between the edges of the photo and the edges of the patch so there's enough room to iron.
  3. Iron the patch onto the item. Iron the outside edges of the patch and make sure the adhesive is in contact with the item. Do not iron directly on the photo - only iron the patch.

Tip: Iron on photoholder patches first before other patches. Do not use photoholder patches on items
that need to be washed because the photo will not be waterproof.
